•Wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE). FOR EXAMPLE: Safety goggles are worn when anyone in the workshop is using a power tool and earmuffs are needed when the ShopBot is running.
•Receive verbal confirmation from a teacher before using any electrical machinery. •Carry tools with the points or sharp edges pointing down. •Clean up after yourself and replace tools to their proper location. •Check electrical connections prior to powering on tools. •Look to make sure everyone in the area is wearing PPE before turning a machine on. •Use the right tool for the right job. •Report every accident no matter how small. •Ask questions if you are unsure. |
•Wear loose fitting clothing or hair down.
•Wear open toed shoes. •Horseplay. •Place body parts in the cutting path of a tool. •Bring food or drink into the workshop. •Leave sharp or hot objects unattended. •Operate machinery without adult supervision. The teacher must be in the workshop with you - not in the clean room. •Clean or adjust a machine while it is still running or plugged in. •Use a tool that appears to be broken or malfunctioning. •Touch any part of the ShopBot while it is routing a toolpath. |
